Crowding of the teeth
When there is insufficient space in the jaw for all of the teeth, crowding occurs, leading to misaligned or overlapping teeth. This condition complicates oral hygiene, increasing the risk of dental decay and gum disease.
Open bite
Characterized by front teeth that don't touch when the jaws close, an open bite can result from prolonged thumb sucking and can complicate biting and speech.
Deep overbite
This occurs when the upper front teeth excessively overlap the lower teeth, potentially causing discomfort, wear on the teeth, and jaw pain.
Missing lateral incisors
Congenital absence of the lateral incisors can lead to aesthetic concerns and functional issues, often corrected with braces and prosthetic solutions like bridges.
Underbite
An underbite, where the lower front teeth extend beyond the upper teeth, can lead to jaw pain and uneven wear on the teeth, and often requires extensive orthodontic treatment.
Spacing of teeth
Excessive gaps between teeth can affect bite function and aesthetic appearance but are usually correctable with braces that close the spaces effectively.
Overjet
Characterized by protruding upper teeth that extend beyond the lower teeth, an overjet can be corrected through comprehensive orthodontic treatment to align the teeth and improve jaw alignment.
Non-braces treatment
Some alignment issues, especially minor crowding, can be corrected without braces through strategic interventions like space maintainers or dental adjustments in early childhood.
